I have always been a maker of things. My parents are from a long line of Appalachian craftspeople, and my childhood was spent learning from them. I began working in clay 49 years ago, just after the birth of my youngest child.
My goal is to use the talents God has given me to create something that makes the person wearing it feel joy, loved and beautiful. My designs reflect my love of horses, the beauty in nature and most recently from impressionist art.
Leah Simmons DeCapio has made art all of her life. She received a Studio Arts Degree (with an emphasis in Ceramics) and an Anthropology Degree from the University of Colorado.
Drawing has been an essential part of my life for as long as I can remember. I think creative expression is a human characteristic every bit as vital as speaking or writing.
